Here Is A Little Information About The Swansea Housing Authority

Incorporated into existence in the late 1960’s, our elderly, non-elderly disabled housing was built on Gardners Neck Road.  Martin Court houses 64 units, four of which are handicapped accessible.

Through the years, the Swansea Housing Authority acquired a 689 State aided house for disabled people.  Currently, the program who maintains the house is Fellowship, Inc. whose clients are elderly disabled.  There are eight residents.

Our Federal Public Housing program consists of six (6) scattered sites throughout the Town.  They are two and three bedroom ranch style houses that are occupied by low-income families and are subsidized by Housing and Urban Development.

The Swansea Housing Authority is managed by the Dartmouth Housing Authority.  The staff consists of a property manager, Connie Desbiens,  an assistant, Sharon Medeiros, and a maintenance man, Manny Corroa.

As of  July 1, 2017, the State mandates that each public entity have a Public Records Officer.  The Board of Commissioners, at their latest meeting, has appointed Connie Desbiens with Sharon Medeiros serving as alternate.  A Public Records Access Policy has been drafted by the Authority.  Information on how to access/request records can be found by calling the office.
